This is a very rare and hard to find vintage made in Japan Yamaha SB-2A Flying Samurai Bass in pearl blue finish! This one was made in the mid to late 1960s, making this bass among some of the first Yamaha Flying Samurai's ever produced. This bass has a comfortable medium 32" scale length and the single neck pickup provides a very strong output, coming in at 9.8K ohms.
This bass shows normal cosmetic wear for a vintage instrument that includes various surface scratches, scuffs, dents, and chips throughout the body with additional dings along the back of the neck and headstock. The hardware shows normal patina and the pearl blue finish has also slightly darkened from age. The reflective top of the volume pot has also fallen off and there is a previous hole from where the upper strap button used to be. The frets exhibit only normal play wear, and feel great up and down the neck. The truss rod still turns with plenty of room in both directions and the electronics work as they should. Overall, this bass is in really nice shape for its age!
This guitar comes freshly set up with D'addario EXL170M (45-100) Bass Roundwound strings. The bridge cover is missing and the strap button had been moved on the upper horn. This bass otherwise appears to be original.
