This is a very rare and hard to find made in Japan Ibanez Professional Series AR2680. This guitar was made in the Fujigen Factory in 1978 as a signature model for the Grateful Dead guitarist, Bob Weir. The guitar is comprised of an ash body, maple neck, and ebony fretboard. The replacement pickups provide a classic PAF tone and the neck has a comfortably slim profile.
This guitar does show quite a bit of cosmetic wear from over the years that includes various surface scratches, scuffs, dents, and chips throughout the body with additional dings along the back of the neck and headstock. The binding around the neck and body shows the most wear with plenty of cracks and chips throughout. There's also a hole drilled on the inside of the upper horn, likely where a strap button had previously been. The gold hardware shows normal patina that is consistent with aging. The frets show quite a bit of play wear but otherwise still play well overall along the neck and the electronics work as they should. The neck is straight with plenty of room for the truss rod to turn in both directions.
The pickups include a DiMarzio PAF in the neck position and a Tom Holmes J450 in the bridge position. A couple of the pots have been replaced and the pickup rings and low E string bridge saddle screw are also later replacements. This guitar is otherwise original.
