This Tokai LS-50 plays and sounds great! The neck profile is a thicker '50s shape, which feels great! The profile specifically best matches a '59 Les Paul, starting quite approachable, and thickening up as you get up the neck.
This example comes loaded with vintage 1970s Maxon PAF pickups which sound incredible! The bridge pickup measures 7.61K and the neck measures 7.74K. These pickups are not original to the guitar, but pair with it extremely well.
This guitar does show quite a bit of cosmetic wear from over the years that includes various surface scratches, scuffs, and dents throughout the body with additional wear along the back of the neck and headstock. There's a small chip located on the side of the upper bout and there's a small chip on the 12th fret inlay. The fretboard is scuffed in that particular area on the 12th fret. The lacquer finish on the headstock face shows some discoloration from over time. The pickup rings and binding around the neck and body have also yellowed and the hardware shows quite a bit of tarnish from over time. The frets are used but otherwise still play great and the electronics work as they should.
The pickups have been swapped for a set of 1970s Maxon PAF style pickups. The pickguard, tail piece, and truss rod cover are later replacements. This guitar otherwise appears to be original.
