This is a very early Japan made Yamaha SG-2! This example came in with its pickups swapped for Fender Pure Vintage '65 Jaguar pickups, which sound really cool in this guitar. The neck profile is on the slimmer side, and extremely comfortable, the rosewood board is also nice and dark here.
The 4-digit serial number on the last fret reads "0747" and between the serial and specs, we've narrowed manufacture between 1966 and 1967, making it extremely early in the world of Yamaha electric guitars.
This guitar is in nice shape for its age, but does show some cosmetic wear such as various surface scratches, scuffs, and dents throughout the body with additional small dings along the back of the neck and headstock. The sunburst finish has aged from over time and the pickguard shows discoloring consistent with age. As you would expect this does have smaller, flatter frets, but despite this it still plays great up and down the neck with low action. All of the electronics work as they should.
This guitar comes freshly setup with D'Addario EXL110 (10-46 gauge) strings. This came in with the electronics serviced by a previous owner, the pickups, rhythm circuit, and various other components appear to be replaced with touched up solder points throughout. The original pickups are included, though they are not giving a reading, likely why they were initially swapped. The tremolo arm is a later replacement, the guitar otherwise retain its originality.
