Here we have one of the less common iterations of celebrated Yamaha SG Series, the SG-510! This guitar was made in limited quantities, exclusively from the Japanese market, and only stayed in production for one year. The factory-equipped humbuckers sound fantastic, especially thriving with overdriven tones. These pickups provide great clarity even with heavy distortion. The neck profile is super comfy here, this is a solid, and quite underrated gem within the Yamaha SG line!
This guitar does show some wear as you would expect with 40 years of age. There is most notably a chip in the finish bellow the controls, and a finish-only crack coming from the output jack nut on the top. The guitar also has plenty of dings scratches, and other blemishes from over time throughout. The hardware exhibits patina consistent with age. The binding has aged a bit, with some of the dot markers fading. The frets exhibit normal play wear, but feel great up and down the neck with life left. The electronics all function as they should.
This guitar comes freshly set up with D'addario EXL110 (10-46) strings.
