This is a super cool order-made left handed Greco EX-1000! Undoubtably a grail for left handed players, this is the only left handed version we've ever seen of the iconic EX800 / Destroyer 2459.
The Fujigen factory produced the Ibanez Destroyer 2459 and Greco EX800 guitars concurrently, with the same specs. The Greco branded version was made for the Japanese domestic market, while the Ibanez branded version was made for the export market. While many right handed examples can be found of these guitars, it seems left handed players were almost entirely left out.
The guitar is factory-equipped with vintage Maxon Humbuckers and the neck has a slim profile.
Production for this model started in 1975. This example does not have a serial number, as Greco did not have serial numbers on guitars until 1976, dating this example to fall within the first year of production, 1975.
This guitar does show quite a bit of cosmetic wear from over the many years that includes various surface scratches, scuffs, dents, and chips throughout the body with additional wear along the back of the neck and headstock. There's a separation line where two of the pieces of wood meet, underneath the low E string tuner that has been repaired. The black on the pickguard and switch tip are aged significantly. The frets are used but still play well overall and the electronics work as they should.
While we did not have any other examples to compare to, the guitar appears to be original, outside of the black finish on the pickguard and switch tip. It is possible this was factory ordered with these black plastics, though we can not say for certain.
